The endurance racing was at the end of the track day on Saturday. The sprints were on Sunday. Now, all the racing is on Sunday. Also remember, if we don't have a bunch of red flags during the sprints we should be able to have additional practice time before the endurance racing starts.

That wouldn't make any sense at all. If you can do Saturday endurance, that seems the best shot to maintain. Why move it all to Sunday?

Racer10, I think Todd said that if there were races on saturday that the cost of insurace or track rental would go up. I'm pretty sure I read that.

I'm sure the insurance is what makes the cost go up. The rental will stay constant as Saturdays and Sundays are typically the same costs. They cost more than a weekday, for example...

I suspect the racing part increases insurance which, maybe it does raise the rental as they may have a lower rate relating to insurance on Saturdays... Hmmm...

But, again, I think that if you get the racers to come, still maintain the levels of customers for the track days, the costs will be covered. Look further than 2010 on this idea... It is something to build fans and possible new members/racers.

1. If you race on Saturday, you need racing level insurance for the day. The difference is quite large.
2. It shortens the amount of time for track day patrons. You have 6 (20) minute sessions and red flags can reduce the time further. Now, it's like everyone else with 7 (20) minute sessions and some wiggle room. This makes the track day people happy. This is especially important with the race school, as they need all 7 sessions.
3. Greatly reduces the complexity on Saturday. With much of the staff already acting as instructional riders, handling all the walkins, requests, etc. for a race day and a track day at the same time can be almost overwhelming. Now the focus can be all on the track day people, with the focus switching after the day is done.
4. It allows racing sprint/endurance costs to stay reasonable. The endurance racing price is unchanged for 2010, and the sprint racing is only increased for the first entry by $10. (80-60-40-20 for normal entries)
5. It allows Sprint people to run in the Mini Endurance races on the same day, allowing reduced priced entries for members.

the tldr version (too long didn't read)
Keeps costs down for racers/riders and improves quality of service for all participants.

If we keep growing the track day side and producing new racers like we have been, we can eventually get back to a racing only Saturday-Sunday, probably with a half day morning track day on Saturday to be used as race practice. Our track days have always acted like a farm team for producing racers.
